Scenes of Yemen
Israel Yeshayahu’s Birth Place, and of Aden
The Yemenite Jews, while in
exile, yearned for redemption from a life of humiliation in Moslem
Yemen. Years before the establishment of the State, several groups
began to make their way to Israel, through Aden, which was, then,
under British rule. From Aden, they embarked upon ships that brought
them to Israel. When the State of Israel was established,
“Operation
Magic Carpet” began.
